Two Presents that made me cry

The first present I cried because I saw it on Sunday, two days before Christmas. It is a really nice fuzzy body pillow Cammon put into John’s room. I didn’t go into the room, I was in the hallway having a conversation with John and saw it there on the bunk bed. Not a very good hiding place. I couldn’t pretend I didn’t see it, it was obvious I had and I cried because I ruined a surprise and he always goes great lengths to get me great gifts and hide them

The second present I cried because I have to say-and sorry if I offend anyone-but it was the best gift I have received ever because it meant so much to me. It was the final grand finale gift he gave Christmas morning and to me is his first definite acceptance/expression of happiness for the child we have on the way. Its not like he hasn’t been excited, he just hasn’t shown it much, like most men. Well I cried and cried and here is why:

even if there’s tons left to do, being done with one of the many things I do is a huge relief. And it means we’re one semester closer to truly being done with school which is hard to even think about because it will be so incredible!!

I’m grateful for these blog things that keep us close (have I already said that?) And for COMMENTS!!

So often, we feel like we move through the world without leaving any imprint at all. The comments make us feel heard. Dick Beeson makes fun of me for this, but how would he feel if he was in my presence and said something to me, and I didn’t react at all to let him know I heard him?

So, those who comment are being merciful and loving, and I love them.

Belts

For all of my life my jeans have never fit quite right and the huge bubble at the back of the pants has plagued all of my days.

Right now though, I actually stopped wearing a belt. No, Mama Randle, its still not time to shop at the maternity store. My pants are actually still a little big and I keep pulling them up. This is a little secret a friend taught me from when she was pregnant. She said that while she knew getting bigger was a part of pregnancy and not her getting fat, it made her feel better those last few weeks of wearing pants that felt too big-because it goes away all to soon.

So here is to my belt which helped to keep my pants on when I was thin and boost my morale and self esteem as I grow big.

Beads and wire and glass and clay and cotton and thread and stuff. I don’t even know how these things are made or where they come from – or how I’d get them if the world crashed. But I love, love, love being able to get a hold of them and make them into things.

It looks so exciting, wrapping all those secrets under the tree. Gin says she wishes she didn’t know what was in all of them, but I always forget after I’ve wrapped them anyway!

enough to stuff that when the car breaks down in the parking garage after going to the movies we could walk home.It sucked, but at least we could walk home.

A good year so you can pay for car repars.

I am grateful that this last year we made enough money that we can fix our car when it has problems. I am supper grateful that we are not having to give up other things like food or doctor visits so we can keep our car running. So this week even though I am dropping 500 bucks on the Subaru I am glad I can.

Christmas Trees with Colored lights (warning, way too long of a post)

Referring to the post Ginna wrote I am grateful for colored lights. Here is my version of the story-a little more detail than Cammon’s Christmas Happenings post. We put our tree up and it had all white lights again. Every year we say that we are going to take those lights off when we take it down and put all colored-the tree itself is very pretty but really the guy who put the white lights on just threw them on and you can see the wiring everywhere.

Well I was sitting there on Sunday and couldn’t take it, so I started to put colored lights on top. But that didn’t work very well because with all the wires, you couldn’t get the colored back to the trunk. Cammon started to take the white lights out and insert colored in their place at the top-but that would take days upon days to complete, plus all the wires would still be showing.

So I complained like a pregnant wife and we started to take the white lights off.

Yeah, the strands backtracked around each other and both Cammon and I have cuts all over our hands from the tree. So it took us about two hours and we only got the bottom 1/4 pulled off. But that is okay because thats all 3 strands of colored lights can cover any way. And actually by pulling off all the suffocating wiring, we were able to “fluff” the branches, to make them fuller.

So after a trip to Walmart and 9 more boxes of 100ct. colored lights, we are going to finish the tree tonight, or tomorrow night, or at least by the end of this weekend and then I can lay on the couch with just the light from the tree and begin to enjoy the season. Thats what this season is all about anyway isn’t it????
